Spelling Bee Word Lists Now Available

Greetings, fellow homeschoolers!

The registrations for the Living Water's Garden State Homeschool Spelling Bee, scheduled for January 9th, have been coming in - thank you!  The deadline for registering is Monday, October 10th!

There are 3 lists to study from (click on each link):  Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. They are also available on Living Water's Spelling Bee web page in the Resource Center section.

Your 2nd to 4th grade student should only spend time on the Beginner list; it is unlikely that we will need to move to the Intermediate list with them.  But, if your young student
is a superior speller, by all means move forward through the lists and have fun!

Your 5th to 8th grade student should review the Beginner list and will find that they can already spell most of these words.  They should spend the bulk of their time on the Intermediate list.  If they are highly motivated, they can move onto the Advanced list!  Again, it is unlikely that we will need to move onto the Advanced list, but I will be delighted if this happens.

These lists are long (about 500 words on each list) but preparing for the Bee in January is very doable when you think of it this way:  The Bee is roughly 4 months away.  You have at least 20 days out of each month to review.  Doing just 10 words a day would enable you to study 800 words and this is much more than what's needed to be prepared!

These lists come from The Herald - a newspaper in PA that runs a solid spelling bee.  I obtained written permission from them to use these copyrighted lists.  Scripps does not want non-Scripps feeder bees to use their word lists.

Please fee free to contact me with any questions at gardenstatespellingbee@verizon.net.

Leadership Faith Statement

The Holy Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God. It contains His completed and final revelation to man. We do not endorse or encourage the use of any teaching that conflicts with what is contained in it. The Holy Bible in its original form is without error in its entirety. The Word of God has been and will remain the ultimate authority as we seek His wisdom in representing His group in a way that honors and magnifies the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Mission Statement

Living Water Home Educators is composed of homeschool families in Burlington County, NJ and surrounding areas who come together to support one another. Each family that homeschools is an independent, private school that has the freedom to install the beliefs and values that we, the parents, feel are most important to our children. Since this group is not affiliated with any one particular church, we feel it is important for you to know where the leadership of this group stands so that you can feel comfortable participating in the activities and events we offer.

Activities Disclaimer

Please be advised that any activities that are advertised in the Living Water Weekly eNews or website may not necessarily be activities that conform to Living Water's Faith Statement (see above). Members should not make any assumptions about the teachings or content that may be provided at these activities and should exercise due diligence before deciding to participate. These include activities that are considered as "outside interest" as well as those activities (including field trips) that are organized exclusively for Living Water members.
