 LW Leadership Faith Statement
The Holy Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God and contains His completed and final revelation to man. We do not endorse or encourage the use of any teaching that conflicts with what is contained in God’s Word. The Bible, in its original form, is without error in its entirety. The Word of God has been and will remain the ultimate authority as we seek His wisdom in representing His group in a way that honors and magnifies the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

This year we will make 5 dozen cookies and separate them in 1/2 dozen containers/bags. You will need to get the type of cookie and recipe to me by Wednesday (December 17th). At the Christmas Party we will take your cookies and sort them and you will leave at the end of the party with 5 dozen cookies in 10 varieties! Howell Living History Farm's Sheep Shearing Program includes the following Station Activities:

Shearing: Watch up close as our farmer hand shears one of our sheep. A volunteer from your group can help by turning the crank of a set of circa 1900 "automatic" shears. Everyone will be given a piece of raw wool from the sheep being sheared to feel the texture and natural lanolin.

Sheep Care: Learn about the care of our sheep as you pet the lambs, help brush the ewes, and visit the flock in the sheep yard. Help process wool using our hand cranked carding machine to prepare it for spinning. Learn about the many uses for wool products on a 1900 family farm.

Spinning and Weaving: See our spinner make yarn using a spinning wheel, and learn about the tools and techniques of spinning. Everyone will be given clean wool to try their own hand at finger spinning while our spinner explains how the yarn is dyed and woven into cloth. Learn about the properties of wool and see finished woven or knitted products.

Lamb Feed Mixing: Help a farmer mix a supply of lamb feed. Identify whole grains grown on the Farm-- wheat and field corn; then, use hand cranked machines to process them into feed for our new lambs. Learn how the farmer feeds the flock to increase production of meat, wool and lambs.

Spelling Bee Tip of the Week

The ENOCH - South Jersey

I'm back again! And as promised I have another idea for increasing the functionality of word study.

Create a real simple study chart for yourself that lists a rank of scholarship with the number of mastered words required to achieve each new stature. The military order of rank may be a good framework to adopt.  Enter the "ropes" as a new recruit: promote yourself to private status once you've learned the first 12 words, corporal can be acquired after another 24, an additional 36 will make you a sergeant, 48 words after that will grant you the title of major, etc.  Make your advancement more credible by having your parent administer a simple proficiency test at each juncture!
