Frequently Asked Questions
We've provided a list of Frequently Asked Questions about Living Water Home Educators (LWHE). Simply select a Category from the list below then click on any of the questions to view the answer! If you have a question that is not listed below, feel free to email any of the LWHE Leaders (their names and email addresses are listed in the left-hand side bar in the Contact Our Leaders block).
No. Even though LWHE is a Christian homeschool support group we do accept members who are not Christian. We do require, however, that you read, understand and respect the LWHE Leadership Faith and Mission Statements (located at the bottom of this page).
The benefits of membership include:
- Participation in events and activities organized by LWHE. These events may include age-appropriate fellowship activities (eg. H20 events, High School events), field trips, various holiday parties (eg. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day), and select sport activites (eg. tennis lessons)
- Participation in seminars and workshops designed exclusively for members.
- Participation in Living Water Enrichment (LWE) classes and co-ops which are provided from September through May each year.
- Participation in the Living Water Yahoo! Discussion group.
- Email delivery of the Living Water Weekly eNews every Saturday.
- Participation in the Members Business Directory. The Members Business Directory allows for the free advertising of skills or services to all visitors to the LWHE website.
Although it is not a requirement, LWHE strongly encourages all members to volunteer in some capacity during the course of the year. With a group of 100+ families there is much to manage in order to provide the resources and support that is expected from our members. At the bottom of the LWHE Membership Form you can indicate which area you would be interested in acting as a volunteer (eg. field trip organizer, administrative help, teaching, helping to organize parties, etc.).
In order for families to join, your child must be at least 5 years old by October 15th of the current school year and doing a kindergarten curriculum at home.
The annual cost is $15 per year regardless of what point during the year you join. The Living Water calendar year runs from August 1st - July 31st.
LWHE uses the money it collects from annual membership dues in the following ways:
- Child care during general meetings
- Office supplies
- Website hosting service and registration of the www.lwhe.org domain name
- Supplies for LWHE's various holiday parties
- Supplies for LWHE's various fellowship activities
- Renting space for LWHE's annual used curriculum sale
Print out the Membership Application Form, fill it out and mail it to the address listed on the form. Be sure to also include a check for $15 payable to Living Water Home Educators.
LWE is is designed to provide cooperative and group learning experiences for children (infants through high school) of LWHE members. We do this in two ways:
- Classes whereby one teacher teaches the subject matter for the duration of the semster.
- Co-ops (or co-operatives) whereby parents participate in teaching the subject matter on a rotating basis. The parent is given the lesson plans ahead of time in order to prepare for their teaching rotation.
Living Water Enrichment is NOT a substitute for the daily home education of your child and it is NOT a school.
No. Only members of LWHE may register for LWE.
Yes. Every family that registers for classes in any given semester is required to pay a registration fee. The registration fee covers a portion of the Building Usage Fee (the cost associated with renting a facility each semester in which to conduct the classes). The rate may change semester to semester so visit our LWE page for current LWE registration fee information.
Additionally, some classes may require a nominal fee for supplies as required by the class which is communicated in advance of registration.
There are, on occasion, classes on the roster that have an outside instructor who is paid to teach the class. In those cases, the instructor sets the fees for participation in his/her class and usually communicated well in advance of registration.
There are two semesters each year. The first semester runs from September through December. The second semester runs January through May.
The classes are held on Mondays but not every week. Typically there are three, sometimes two classes per month depending on the availability of the facility.
Class times begin at 9:00am and end at 2:00pm. Some classes (eg. Book Club) may only meet once a month.
LWE is held at Easton Bible Church located at 2407 Fostertown Road in Hainesport. Visit our LWE page for the Mapquest directions link.
Classes change from semester to semester so for the most current class schedule visit the LWE page and click on the Class Schedule Matrix. For a detailed description of the classes, click on the Class Descriptions link.
Our members do! LWE is mostly a volunteer effort that taps into the skill sets of our members. On occasion, LWE does bring in an outside paid instructor to teach specialized classes.
It is possible. However, any member that has volunteered to teach, or any outside paid instructor, must abide by and respect the LWHE Leadership Faith Statement and not teach anything that is contradictory to it.
We would LOVE for you to teach a class but it is not a requirement in order to register your child(ren) for LWE. However, volunteering in some capacity during the course of the LWE day IS required. During registration you will be asked to sign up for a volunteer position (eg. hall monitor from 10:00am - 11:00am or setup/breakdown, etc.).
If you register your child for a co-op then you will be required to teach the subject matter from a provided lesson plan on a rotation schedule (usually once during a semester).
We have many members within our group that are seasoned LWE instructors that will be happy to assist you in preparing for teaching your class! Contact Brook Gall, LWE Coordinator, at rivergirl72@comcast.net and she can direct you to your "LWE Buddy". You can do this!
Terrific! Contact the appropriate LWE coordinators below:

For high school classes contact Rosemary Laberee at rosemary@lwhe.org.
Not at all! While we are always looking for our members to volunteer to teach at LWE, we also encourage our members to faciliate their own private co-ops in the setting of their choice. Often times, this is the first step in feeling comfortable enough to teach a class at LWE!
Yes! For the complete details of parent and student expectations, read the LWE Rules and Guidelines document and review them with your children.
Parents with children under the age of 10 must remain in the building the entire time their children are in LWE. For more detailed information about this and other rules and guidelines please refer to the LWE Rules & Guidelines document.
Visit our LWE page to download the registration form and additional instructions on the registration process.

"Please be advised that any activities that are advertised in the Living Water Weekly eNews or website may not necessarily be activities that conform to Living Water's Leadership Faith Statement. Members should not make any assumptions about the teachings or content that may be provided at these activities and should exercise due diligence before deciding to participate. There could be depending on the event. Some field trips are free while others may require admission costs. Some sporting events are free while others may require a small fee to participate. Public gatherings such as Park Days, Board Games Day, etc. are free.

We will accept advertisements that are intended for providing a homeschool resource to our members and the local homeschool community at large.

At the moment, the only reported problem is with Internet Explorer v.6 which has a problem displaying the right hand side bar correctly (the information in the side bar is either "pushed" all the way down to the bottom or not there at all). The only resolution at the moment is to upgrade to Internet Explorer v.7 which can be downloaded and installed for free at www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx.
If you are encountering any other problems with other browsers, please email the specifics to the Webmaster at lwhenews@lwhe.org.
The blue menu links are organized into different pages of mostly static information, that is, information that rarely changes. The exception is the Classified Ads page which could potentially have new information on it daily.
The beige area is reserved for information deemed important enough to be viewed for several days at a time without being "pushed" off the front page news. Important dates, cancellations, and website issues are examples of the type of news that may be posted in that area.
All news articles are posted in the white space in the center of the LWHE home page. The most current news article is at the top of the list while older news articles get pushed toward the bottom.
You can also scan the top 10 recent news articles in the "Most Recent Articles" block located in the right hand side bar. Clicking on the headline will display the article in its entirety.
The easiest way is to type in your topic keyword (eg. high school) in the "Search This Site" block which is located at the top of the right hand side bar. Any article or page on this website that references that keyword phrase will display with the keyword highlighted in yellow. Clicking on a specific article will display it in its entirety.
Another way is to use the "Categorized Archives" block which is also located in the right hand side bar. Click on the desired category (or sub-category) to display all the news articles tagged with that category.
The easiest way is to start at the top of the front page and work your way down the page. When you get to the bottom, click on the next page to see even older news.
Another way is click on any given month in the "Monthly Archives" block located in the right hand side bar. All the news articles posted in that particular month will display.
All of these pages will be re-built in LWHE's new website format. We appreciate your patience during this lengthy process.
Many people have chosen to use an RSS Feed Reader to consolidate news content from various different sources on the internet. Rather than visiting individual websites each day to check it's news content, an RSS Feed Reader is used to conveniently collect that news content or "feeds" from those websites. The user can then read all the news content in his/her RSS Feed Reader that has been collected. There are many RSS Feed Readers available (many of which we list in our "Subscribe to Our Feed" block) and it is a personal choice on which one to use.
When you click on the RSS Feed button in the "Subscribe to Our Feed" block, it adds the LWHE website "feed" to the individual's RSS Feed Reader. Whenever new articles are posted to the LWHE front page, it is automatically "fed" to the subscriber's RSS Feed Reader.
